Departments and Programs

The school offers two major categories of disciplines: Management and Economics. It has two post-doctoral mobile stations: Management Science and Engineering, and Business Administration. There are 2 first-level disciplines with doctor’s degree programs, including Management Science and Engineering, and Business Administration. There are 13 second-level disciplines offering doctor’s degree programs, namely, Technical Economics and Management, Management System Engineering, Science and Technology and Education Management, Information Management and Information System, Logistics Management, Financial Engineering, Accounting, Corporate Management, Tourism Management, Corporate Finance and Financial Innovation, Economics and Industry System Management, Electronic Administration Affairs and Regional Resource Management, Policy Science and Government Administration Innovation. There are 6 master’s degree programs under the first-level disciplines and 23 academic and 10 professional master’s degree programs under the second-level disciplines. There is a national “211 Project” Key Disciplinary Construction Project--- Management Science Theories, Methods and Applications, a provincial key discipline --- Management Science and Engineering with Distinctive Characteristics, and 4 provincial key disciplines, namely Management Science and Engineering, Business Administration, Applied Economics, and Public Administration.

Faculty

The school has strong teaching faculty with reasonable organizational structure and there are quite a few vigorous and innovative experts and scholars who enjoy high reputation at home and abroad with their profound academic achievements. The school comprises 277 faculty members, including 208 full-time teachers and researchers, among whom there are 50 professors, 94 associate professors, and 24 doctorate supervisors. Among the key talents, there are 2 “Changjiang Scholar” Distinguished Professors (also winners of the State Outstanding Youth Fund and talent Selected into the “State Hundred，Thousand and Ten-thousand Talents Project”). There are 7 experts entitled to the State Council Governmental Special Allowance, 2 persons listed in the “New Century Fine Talents Support Program” by the Education Ministry, 2 high-level Entrepreneurship and Innovation Talents in Fujian Province, 2 “Minjiang Scholar” Distinguished Professors, 9 persons listed in the provincial “Hundred，Thousand and Ten-thousand Talents Project”, and 1 listed in the provincial “Hundred，Thousand and Ten-thousand Leading Talents”. We have a professor listed in the provincial “Leading Talents in the Field of Philosophy and Social Sciences”, 3 listed in “Excellent Young Experts in Social Sciences” in Fujian Province, 17 listed in “New Century Fine Talents Support Program” for Universities in Fujian Province, 1 listed in the provincial “Excellent Talents”, 2 awarded the annual “Well-known Teachers” in Universities in Fujian Province, 12 listed in “Outstanding Youth Scientific and Technological Talents Cultivation Program” (in the field of Social Sciences), and 8 listed in “Qishan Scholars” in Fuzhou University.

Students

There are now nearly 3,600 undergraduate students and over 2,600 graduate students of various kinds in the school. The school includes 8 departments, namely, Business Administration, Accounting, Management Science and Engineering, Logistics, Finance and Banking, Economics and Trade, Statistics, and the Department of Public Administration. Besides, there is a center for Professional Graduate Education and High-end Training. The school offers 16 undergraduate programs: Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, Financial Management, Public Finance, Finance, Economics, International Economy and Trade, Information Management and Information System, E-Commerce, Economic Statistics, Logistic Management, Logistic Engineering, Administrative Management, Public Affairs Management, and Industrial Engineering.

The school offers 1 State Top-quality Course, 1 State Fine Course with Resources to be Shared, 1 State Fine Video Open Course, 10 Provincial Fine Courses, 1 Provincial Teaching Team, 4 disciplines with special characteristics at the provincial level, 3 Provincial Educational Science Reform Projects, 3 national planned coursebooks,1 state Corporate Economic Activities Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center, 1 Provincial Economic Management Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, 2 Provincial Talent Cultivation Mode Innovation Experimental Zone, 2 Provincial Experimental Posts for Comprehensive Reform of University Disciplines, 6 Regional University Projects Sponsored by the Central Finance, 4 Provincial Innovation Bases for Graduate Education, 1 Provincial College Student Off-Campus Practice Education Base, 1 Provincial Executive Talent Training Center, and 1 Provincial Civil Servants Training Center. Keeping a strong foothold in the Province and meeting the demand of the whole nation, the school has become a key base for the cultivation of economic and managerial talents with a wide range of disciplines and majors. It is 1 of the 18 nationwide, and the only one in Fujian province，trial unit for the MBA Education Comprehensive Reform. It is a Core Base for High-end Logistic Talents Cultivation and Scientific Research on the Western Coast of the Taiwan Straits, and an institution that is actively engaged in the extension and strengthening of MPA education.

Research

There is in the school 1 Provincial Key Lab (Fujian Provincial Financial and Scientific and Technological Innovation Key Lab), 1 Provincial Industrial Technological Development Base (Fujian Provincial Logistic Industry Technological Development Base), and 11 Provincial Bases for Social Sciences (Fujian Provincial Soft Sciences Research Base, Fujian Provincial Research Base for University Decision Science and Management of Science and Education, Fujian Provincial University Technical Progress and Industrial Development Research Base, Fujian Provincial Social Investigation Base for the Overall Construction of a Well-off Society, Fujian Provincial University Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship Research Base, and 6 Fujian Provincial University Humanities and Social Sciences Research Bases — including Cycling Economy Research Center, Corporate Development Research Center ,Logistic Research Center, Anti-Corruption and Governance Research Center, Scientific and Technological Policy and Administration Research Center, and Economic Governance Research Center.) In recent years, the school has acquired more than 600 vertical scientific research projects granted from relevant governmental organizations, including more than 100 national or ministerial projects and around 300 provincial ones. There are also around 200 horizontally research projects granted by non-governmental organizations with over 40 million Yuan funding already in operation. A great number of papers have been published in academic journals at home and abroad or delivered at international conferences. A number of high-quality monographs and textbooks have been published. Among all the research fruits more than 80 items have won awards at provincial or ministerial levels.

Internationalization

We run education in an open style. The school is actively extending its cooperation and exchanges with foreign universities and higher learning institutions and our counterparts in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan regions. We have established long-term cooperative ties with higher-education institutions including New York Institute of Technology, and Texas Institute of Technology in U.S.A., the University of Wales in U.K., the Ludwigshafen University and the University of Mainz in Germany, Hong Kong City University, China University of Technology in Taiwan, Soochow University in Taiwan, Tamkang University in Taiwan and National University of Kaohsiung in Taiwan as well as “985” key universities in Chinese mainland including Beijing University, Tsinghua University, Nanjing University, Xiamen University, and Beijing Normal University etc.. The school has hosted numerous national and international symposiums. It is increasingly frequent for teachers in the school to go abroad or to Hong Kong and Taiwan to attend international conferences or work as visiting scholars.

Guided by the university’s educational notion of building a strong high-level university with entrepreneurship and regional characteristics, we are now comprehensively pushing forward the construction of a strong teaching-and-research type high-level school. Facing new opportunities and challenges, the school will be tolerant and globally minded to learn advanced notions and experience in running education from others at home and abroad, continue to strengthen contents construction, promote education quality, seek scientific development, and make contribution to the construction of an innovation-oriented nation and the economic and social development of the Western Zone of the Taiwan Straits.
